One of the major activities of NTLP is to control TB through early diagnosis and prompt treatment throughout Tanzania.

NTLP has divided Tanzania into Regions and Districts which gives out TB diagnosis, management and prevention. In big cities like Dar es Salaam its Municipalities have the status of the region in TB programme.

Each NTLP region is further subdivided into NTLP district. Thus each of the three municipalities in Dar es Salaam city have 7 - 9 NTLP districts. There is also a separate NTLP region in Dar es Salaam addressing the needs of the major private hospitals.

Tanzania mainland has NTLP ------ regions and Zanzibar operate as a separate TB/Leprosy control programme but with similar organostractures as on the mainland.
